Well, sure enough, it is a Pietenpol Aircamper complete with a Ford Model A engine and a brass radiator. This one was completed in 2001. Perhaps it is fitting that at an air show billed as celebrating 50 years of EAA fly-ins, an airplane designed in the late '20s for do-it-yourselfers is one of the last ones I happen upon. Tomorrow, the big planes in AeroShell Square will depart including the Lockheed Super Constellation and the Boeing 747. I'll be up early to catch all the action. After they leave, I'll visit the EAA museum. Then weather permitting, I'll leave for home.
