The green arrow points to the quick-connect fitting for taking on fire retardant. According to the owner/operator, "Water doesn't do sh**t compared to fire retardant". Still, the airplane is very effective with water when there is a nearby lake. For example, this airplane could be doing quick water pickup and drop loops on spot fires while the bigger tankers make longer loops to the nearest base to refill with retardant.
So how long it takes to fill the 820 gallon hopper with water by skimming a lake? Take a guess. The skim speed is 60 kt, the scoop/pipe inside diameter is 3", and there is one scoop per float. There are no pumps involved, it's all done by ram pressure. The answer is on the next page.
